We have good news for those who didn’t know about the recent acquisition of Metro PCS by T-Mobile. As a result of the merger two new T-Mobile-branded smartphones are coming to Metro PCS. We have a tip that the first ones will be Samsung Galaxy Exhibit and LG Optimus L9. The leak also mentions that starting June 12th, Metro PCS will launch Bring-Your-Own-Phone service (BYOP program) allowing users to activate their unlocked phones on Metro PCS network.
Samsung Galaxy Exhibit vs. LG Optimus L9
The Samsung Galaxy Exhibit is actually T-Mobile’s version of the Galaxy S III Mini. The phone features a 3.8-inch display protected by Gorilla Glass, a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and HD video capture, as well as a VGA front-facing sensor. The handset is powered by a dual-core 1 GHz processor and offers 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of expandable storage. The Galaxy Exhibit runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
The LG Optimus L9 sports a 4.5-inch touch screen with a 540 x 960 resolution and is driven by a dual-core 1GHz TI OMAP 4430 processor. The device comes with 1 GB of RAM and only 4 GB of internal memory. However, the phone has a microSD slot compatible with up to 32 GB cards. The handset is equipped with a 5-megapixel main camera and a 0.3-megapixel user-facing shooter. Powered by a 2150mAh bartery, the LG Optimus L9 ships with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Also, it seems that starting June 12th Metro PCS is going a BYOP or Bring-Your-Own-Phone program. Customers owning an unlocked GSM phone will be able to use it on the carrier’s network. The list of compatible phones includes iPhones as well as Windows Phones and Android devices. BlackBerry phones, however, will not be supported.
